The SOM Student Ambassador (SSA) Sports Team successfully organized an exciting Badminton Championship on the 22nd and 24th of June 2026 at the AIT Main Campus, bringing together students from across the institute for two days of thrilling competition and community building.
The tournament featured 16 participants representing different departments and countries, showcasing the diversity that makes AIT such a vibrant and inclusive community. Throughout the event, players displayed impressive skill, determination, and sportsmanship as they battled through a series of intense matches in pursuit of the championship title. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as classmates and friends gathered to cheer on the competitors, making the
tournament a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
After a series of highly competitive matches, Vivek Vinjamuri, a SOM student, emerged as the
tournament champion, while Mriganka SK finished as the runner-up after an outstanding performance. Both finalists were awarded prize money in recognition of their achievements, with an additional contribution generously sponsored by a fellow SOM student Vo Thanh Loan (Bee), whose support added to the success of the event.
Beyond the competition, the tournament served as a wonderful opportunity for students from different academic backgrounds and nationalities to connect, build friendships, and strengthen the sense of community within AIT. Events like these highlight the important role of sports in fostering teamwork, cultural exchange, and lasting relationships outside the classroom.
Lastly, a big congratulations and heartfelt thanks to all the SSA members for successfully organizing and conducting this event. A special thanks goes to Mr. Dennes Bergardo Jr. for his continued support for SSA, whose hard work and commitment made this tournament possible.
We look forward to many more exciting sporting events that continue to bring the AIT community together.
