On Thursday, June 20, the AIT School of Management (SOM), in collaboration with Global Emerging Leadership Programs (GELP), Canada, hosted a high-impact Career & Skill Development Workshop at the AIT Downtown Campus in Bangkok. The event was part of AIT’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for international career success by connecting them with global leadership networks and real-world insights.
The session welcomed over 20 students from AIT’s Main Campus, School of Management (SOM), who traveled to Bangkok to take part in this special learning opportunity. The workshop focused on enhancing key career competencies such as personal branding, cross-cultural communication, and strategic leadership readiness—all essential for thriving in today’s interconnected job market.
Two distinguished speakers from Canada led the session:
• Dr. Omar Karim (EdD, MBA, MScIB) – Founder and President of GELP
• Mr. Joel Hampson (MEd) – Director of GELP
With their extensive backgrounds in leadership education and international development, both speakers delivered a dynamic and engaging session. They challenged students to think critically about how to position themselves in a global context, offering practical frameworks for developing a strong professional presence, especially in competitive environments such as internships, graduate programs, and international job placements.
Students responded enthusiastically, engaging in thoughtful discussion and asking questions about international career pathways, leadership styles, and cultural intelligence. The workshop reflected GELP’s mission to empower emerging leaders with the mindset, skills, and ethical foundation necessary to create impact on a global scale.
This event not only enriched the students’ learning experience but also reinforced AIT’s commitment to holistic and internationalized education—where academic knowledge is integrated with hands-on, forward-looking skill development.
