My name is Aye Chan Myat Moe, a recent MSc.BADT graduate from the School of Management at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. Currently, I am working as a Country Representative in International Business Department at Double A 1991 Public Company Limited, Thailand. I joined Double A during my last semester at AIT, and these past two months have been enriching, filled with learning and growth. Every day brings new challenges and experiences, which I thoroughly enjoy. The supportive environment at Double A has enabled me to contribute effectively to the team while continuing to develop my skills.

Finding a job in Thailand as a foreigner was quite challenging. I began my job search in my second year at AIT, dedicating 2-3 hours daily to applying for roles related to marketing, digital marketing, and marketing analysis. This journey lasted around seven months and was a roller coaster ride with many rejections, failures and corrections. The motivation to stay in Thailand, considering the situation in my home country, drove me to put in immense effort.

A turning point came during a "Coffee Chat with the Dean" session with SOM's former dean, Dr. Roger Levermore. His advice led me to consult with Mr. Dennes Bergado Jr, a career development coordinator at SOM. Their support was invaluable in navigating the job application process. The Mentor-Mentee Program at SOM also played a significant role in my success. My career mentor, Mr. Abhishek Bahadur Shah, a Deputy Managing Director of Thai President Foods Public Company Limited, was incredibly supportive. His constructive feedback and encouragement helped me stay focused and motivated. His professional network provided valuable connections that eventually led to my current role at Double A. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be mentored by such an accomplished professional and for the support from the School of Management.

My time at AIT has changed me profoundly, and I've learned so much from all the amazing people within this diverse community. The knowledge I acquired from my master program has been crucial in enabling me to use the abilities and knowledge in my current role. Moreover, my AIT experience extended beyond academic pursuits, encompassing a diverse range of extracurricular activities that added depth to my journey. Engaging in events like the Sustainable Hackathon, participating in volunteering initiatives at Student Union, working part time as student assistantship at SOM and forming meaningful connections through various activities not only enriched my overall university experience but also contributed to my personal and professional growth.

As I embark on this new chapter, I am reminded of the motto that guided me through my job search: "Rejections are the redirections to the route for growing better." Embrace challenges, believe in yourself, and keep striving for your goals. For those students applying for employment, I’d like to highlight that persistence is the key to dedicate time and effort thourghout the process. Leverage your network by connecting with professionals on LinkedIn and utilizing your university’s resources, including career services and mentorship programs. Most importantly, stay positive , enjoy each experience and keep moving forward with confidence and optimism until you reach your goal.
