AIT School of Management Hosts Doctoral Colloquium 2026, Exploring the Future of Business Research in the Age of AI
By: Amanda Townshend
Over 30 participants gathered for two days of research discussions, knowledge sharing, and academic networking at the AIT School of Management.
The AIT School of Management (SOM) successfully hosted its 4th Doctoral Colloquium 2026 on 3–4 October 2026 at the Asian Institute of Technology, bringing together over 30 participants for two days of academic exchange, research presentations, and meaningful discussions.
Under the theme "Living with AI: New Frontiers in Business Research and Strategy," the colloquium provided a platform for Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) students to share their research, exchange perspectives, and explore the evolving role of artificial intelligence in business and management.
Bringing Research Ideas to Life
The annual Doctoral Colloquium is an important opportunity for doctoral researchers at different stages of their academic journey to present their work, receive constructive feedback, and connect with fellow researchers and faculty members.
Beyond strengthening research skills, the event emphasized the importance of communicating academic findings effectively, building professional networks, and translating research into meaningful real-world impact. The two-day program featured keynote and guest speaker sessions, roundtable discussions, research presentations, and interactive activities designed to encourage knowledge sharing and academic collaboration.
Exploring New Perspectives on Research and AI
The first day focused on academic discussions and opportunities for participants to engage with different perspectives on business research and strategy. The program included keynote and guest speaker sessions, followed by roundtable discussions and a workshop on Research and Artificial Intelligence, providing opportunities to explore the relationship between emerging technologies and academic research.
Participants also had the opportunity to connect with one another through networking activities, a campus tour, and a social gathering. On the second day, doctoral researchers took centre stage through a series of research presentations organized into four tracks, alongside poster presentations showcasing their ongoing work.
These sessions provided an opportunity for participants to present their research ideas, engage in academic discussions, and receive valuable feedback to further refine their work.
The colloquium also offered participants practical experience in communicating and defending their research, helping them prepare for future academic milestones, including dissertation defenses and conference presentations.
Supporting the Next Generation of Researchers
More than a platform for presenting research, the Doctoral Colloquium reflects SOM's commitment to fostering a supportive academic environment where researchers can learn from one another, challenge ideas, and develop their research potential.
By encouraging constructive dialogue and collaboration, the event aimed to help doctoral students strengthen their academic confidence, improve their research communication skills, and explore opportunities to make their work more relevant and impactful.
