The School of Management (SOM), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), recently hosted a three-day special lecture series (26–28 September 2025) in collaboration with Bosch Thailand. The sessions were led by senior Bosch executives and experts, offering students a unique blend of academic learning and real-world industry practices in the fields of supply chain and procurement.

Industry Insights from Bosch
The lecture opened with an overview of Bosch’s global presence, business sectors, and strategic direction. Mr. Joseph Hong, Managing Director of Bosch Thailand, highlighted the company’s century-long presence in the country and its importance as a regional hub for automotive and consumer goods production. He also emphasized Bosch’s long-term vision as a privately held company under the Bosch Foundation, with strong commitments to innovation, sustainability, and carbon neutrality.
Bosch experts shared key insights into the company’s four major business sectors—Mobility, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy & Building Technology—along with breakthrough innovations in electrification, Industry 4.0, AI, and sustainable manufacturing.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
The lecture series was designed to be interactive, blending theory with practical examples. Dr. Frank Neuscheler, Vice President and Mr. Milan Hronek, Director, both from the Mobility Solutions Department guided students through core areas such as:
Purchasing & Procurement Processes – covering supplier strategies, procurement before and after production, and task force management.
Corporate Social Responsibility in Supply Chains – including carbon footprint reduction, supplier audits, and ethical sourcing.
Risk & Ramp-Down Management – addressing global supply disruptions, insolvencies, and capacity challenges in the automotive industry.
Digital Transformation & AI in Supply Chains – showcasing Bosch’s approaches to smart factories and data-driven procurement.
The sessions included group work, case studies, and quizzes, encouraging students to apply concepts to real-world challenges, such as managing rice supply chain crises, balancing domestic food security with exports, and mitigating risks from climate change and global competition.
Employer & Career Opportunities
Alongside technical lectures, HR Director Ms. Tikumporn Suewatanapong, presented Bosch as an employer of choice. She highlighted the company’s modern workplace culture, hybrid working model, recognition as a “Great Place to Work,” and career development pathways for young talents in Thailand.
A Bridge Between Academia and Industry
This collaboration underscored the value of linking academic knowledge with industrial expertise, giving AIT students direct exposure to global best practices in supply chain and procurement management. The interactive approach ensured that students not only learned about frameworks but also developed problem-solving skills relevant to pressing real-world challenges.
SOM extends its gratitude to the Bosch team—Mr. Joseph Hong, Ms. Tikumporn, Dr. Frank, and Mr. Milan—for sharing their expertise, and looks forward to future collaborations that prepare AIT students to lead in the ever-changing landscape of supply chain and procurement.
