On May 24, 2025, representatives from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) — including the Office of Public Affairs, the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), and the School of Management (SOM) — participated in the 9th Thailand Education Fair (Myanmar) 2025, held at Novotel Hotel, Yangon. The event was hosted by The Association of Myanmar Alumni from Universities in Thailand (AMAUT), a registered organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar since 2016, with initial support from the Royal Thai Embassy.
Representing the School of Management, Dr. Kamonkanok Kiatisakchai (Dr. Kamille), Assistant Dean and MBA Program Director, attended on behalf of Dean Prof. Yuosre Badir, to connect with SOM alumni, prospective students, and academic institutions across Myanmar. AIT’s presence at the event attracted significant interest — nearly 100 out of 400 attendees registered specifically to receive more information about AIT, highlighting the strong appeal and relevance of AIT programs among Burmese undergraduates aspiring for international graduate education.
Dr. Kamille shared that participants at the AIT booth were highly engaged, demonstrating sincere interest in the Institute's academic offerings. Many parents also visited the booth, reflecting their strong involvement and support in their children's educational futures. Notably, alumni from various graduating classes — including from as early as 1990 — joined the booth, offering heartfelt support by sharing their personal experiences with AIT to both prospective students and their families. This exemplifies the deep, ongoing commitment of the AIT Myanmar alumni network.
The event was further enriched by a cultural evening and networking dinner on May 23, where representatives from Thai universities had the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue, enjoy traditional Myanmar performances, and receive the honor of presence and support from the Royal Thai Embassy Ambassador. This spirit of collaboration emphasized the importance of international educational partnerships in the region.
The participation of AIT in this event reflects the Institute’s continued mission to connect with alumni, support prospective students, and foster regional cooperation in higher education. Looking ahead, AIT — through SET, SERD, and SOM — plans to collaborate with AMAUT and other partners to organize further activities and outreach efforts aimed at preparing talented Burmese undergraduates for graduate study.
In October 2025, the School of Management will also host its Homecoming event, expected to be strongly supported by the SOM alumni community, particularly those from Myanmar. AIT remains committed to nurturing these long-standing relationships and expanding academic opportunities for students across Asia.
