Digital Banking Transformation and Leadership Program for Nepal BankingProfessionals
By: Sitahng Puttha
The Asian Institute of Technology’s School of Management (AIT SOM) welcomed 19 senior banking professionals from Nepal to Bangkok from 22–25 September 2026 for the Digital Banking Transformation and Leadership (DBTL) Program. Participants included Branch Managers, Relationship Managers, Priority Banking leadership, risk, institutional banking and project management professionals, bringing diverse banking experience into the classroom.

The program was led by Dr. Sundar Venkatesh, Program Director, together with the industry guest lecturers with extensive banking-sector experience, including expertise from the Bank of Thailand in Payments & FinTech and Advanced Analytics.
Across the four-day program, participants explored key areas of digital banking transformation, leadership, customer experience, FinTech, data and analytics, and the changing role of bank branches. The sessions combined academic perspectives with practical industry experience, allowing participants to relate new ideas directly to their own organizations and responsibilities.
The learning experience extended beyond the classroom through a site visit to a bank branch in Thailand, where participants observed banking operations, customer-service practices and the evolving role of physical branches in an increasingly digital environment. The program reflects AIT SOM’s commitment to providing customized executive education that connects academic knowledge, industry expertise and practical exposure.
