Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in a volunteer outreach trip supporting a remote school in northern Thailand. I travelled with fellow members of Rotaract Bangkok International and joined activities organized by The Rotary Club of Bangkok DACH in collaboration with the iCare Thailand Foundation. I was also joined by my fellow SOM students, namely Thiri Ko, Shruti Awale, and Ashna Manandhar, as well as Dr. Tobias Endress, President of The Rotary Club of Bangkok DACH.

Our destination was “So. Ko. Ro. Tochodo Ban Mae La Na School” in the Tha Song Yang region. The journey was long and demanding due to the steep terrain and rough roads, but we were warmly welcomed upon arrival. The students greeted us with bright smiles and polite “Sawadee,” creating an immediately positive and encouraging atmosphere.
That evening, we attended a discussion session with the volunteer team. It was inspiring to meet individuals committed to supporting the local community through sustained efforts. Hearing their experiences provided perspective on the importance of long-term engagement and collaboration.
The following morning, we began the day with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Our main activity was the opening of a new dormitory, an important milestone that will improve students’ living conditions and provide a safer, more comfortable environment. We also visited families in a nearby village to deliver food and other essential items, which offered insight into the challenges faced by households with limited resources and reinforced the importance of continued support.

Later, we returned to the school to distribute gifts and educational supplies to the children. The day concluded with group games and activities, allowing us to connect with the students and create joyful shared memories.
We also learned about a growing scholarship initiative designed to help students continue their education. Overall, this trip was not only an opportunity to contribute through service, but also a meaningful learning experience that highlighted compassion, commitment, and community partnership. It inspired me to contribute more in the future and continue to make a meaningful difference.
