On 6 June 2025, the School of Management (SOM) of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) was honored to be invited by the United Board (UB) for Christian Higher Education in Asia to deliver a 1-day leadership development program for the UB fellows Program under the theme “Higher Education Landscape in Thailand and Southeast Asia.”

The UB Fellows Program is an esteemed initiative aimed at fostering leadership among mid-career faculty and administrators from higher education institutions across Asia. It focuses on nurturing dynamic leaders who are dedicated to promoting whole-person education and strengthening resilient academic institutions. This year’s cohort included participants from nine countries: Philippines, Indonesia, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Japan, and South Korea.
As part of the program, SOM conducted four insightful sessions:
“From Content to Competency: Rethinking Curriculum for Southeast Asia’s Future” by Ms. M.L. Thanisa Teresa Choombala
“Higher Education Landscape in Asia” by Dr. Pietro Borsano
“Higher Education and Industry Collaboration in the 21st Century” by Dr. Naveed Anwar
“Leadership and Management in Higher Education” by Mr. Russell Rein
The speakers-drawn from both academia and industry-brought rich expertise and practical insights to the participants, facilitating dynamic discussions on the evolving role of higher education in the region.
AIT SOM is proud to contribute to leadership development efforts across Asia and looks forward to building a mutually beneficial collaboration with the United Board to further advance the cause of quality and innovative higher education in the region.
